I really love that we are collectively talking more about our lineages and giving credit to the traditions and people we have learnt from and have been influenced by.

Just a few years ago, there used to be a very strong emphasis on proving that we were doing something different and unique that was our own, and only our own, in order to be seen as an “expert” or “leader”.

And even though owning our work is important, and each of us does have our completely unique way of doing things, we still all carry and pass on knowledge that we have received and which it is important, and honest, to acknowledge. There is a humbleness in doing so that keeps us grounded and connected to our roots, which feels very relieving to me.

I deeply believe that our background says so much about who we are and what we do, so, today I want to name the three major traditions that I bring together in my work and honour the teachers I have been blessed to study with and be formed by:

EMBODIMENT / BODY PSYCHOLOGY / SOMATIC MOVEMENT THERAPY

Approaches: Yoga, JourneyDance, SomaSoul, Authentic Movement, Bioenergetics, Mind-Body/Chakra Therapy

Influences: Wilhelm Reich, Alexander Lowen, Peter Levine, Gabrielle Roth
Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Janet Adler, Joan Chodorow

JUNGIAN / DEPTH / ALCHEMICAL / ARCHETYPAL PSYCHOLOGY

Influences: Carl Jung, Marion Woodman, James Hillman, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Thomas Moore

Teachers: Beverly Martin, Mark Paine, Penny Brownjohn

GODDESS / EARTH & BODY- BASED SPIRITUALITY

Approaches: Avalonian, Celtic, Greek & Egyptian Sacred Feminine Wisdom traditions, 13 Moon Mystery School, Kundalini/Chakra Alchemy

Teachers: Vanessa Sage, Elayne Kalila Doughty, Anodea Judith, Leyola Antara, Danielle Dulsky, Lisa Lister

Writing all these names down brings tears to my eyes.

It has been a huge privilege, in every sense of the word, to have met and be touched in such profound ways by these amazing humans, and I never take any of it for granted.

There is also something incredibly touching in knowing that the threads of these lineages extend far back…a sense of connection, continuity…

I bow in deep gratitude to all, personally known and unknown teachers, and to all the traditions behind them. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏🏼
